A Guide To The Best Of San Francisco
July 01, 2019 From Mozart to Rossini, from Akiyama’s Japanese Songs to Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances, from Gilbert and Sullivan to Djawadi and Handel, the Golden Gate Park Band Concerts always provide the ultimate in musical diversity. These performances offer something for every music lover’s taste, and costumed guest performers, singers, dancers, and speakers accompany concerts that feature the music of specific cultures or nationalities. Concerts are scheduled regularly for Sunday afternoons, are free of charge, and are performed at the Spreckels Temple of Music in the Music Concourse at Golden Gate Park. Many of these are themed, such as “Highlights from Mamma Mia,” “Music and Dance of Scotland,” “Music from the Movies,” and “Music for Families,” and feature work by a variety of composers, while others showcase the music of such musical luminaries as John Williams. On August 4, a special program will be performed in honor of CERT and NERT emergency response volunteers, while the 2019 season finale on October 6 is themed “Remembering 1969.” Concerts are subject to change or cancellation, so be sure to check the link above before attending.Sundays in the Park with Music
