Set in SF: “Tales of the City” at the San Francisco International Film Festival

April 01, 2019

Calling all cineastes – don’t miss the 2019 edition of the San Francisco International Film Festival. Head over to the fabulous Castro Theatre on April 10–23 for star-studded screenings of peerless, cutting-edge films, along with visits and Q&A’s with producers, directors, stars, crew, and more. The festival begins on April 10 with a screening of the new Netflix follow-up series of Armistead Maupin’s “Tales of the City.” Based on the author’s charming book and the PBS series, the screening will be followed immediately by a Q&A, along with an epic opening party at the Regency Center.

Come prepared to drink, dance, and rub elbows with "film folk" until the wee hours. Guests will include such luminaries as Maupin himself, along with Laura Linney, showrunner Lauren Morelli, and director and executive producer Alan Poul, and more! Dozens of world-class films will be screened at the Castro throughout the festival, including the Centerpiece Film selection, “The Farewell,” directed by Lulu Wang and starring Awkwafina, and “Official Secrets,” the Closing Night Film choice starring Keira Knightley and directed by Gavin Hood.
