May 07, 2018

Children’s programs, poetry, music, dance, theater, and circus – all await you at the 18th annual Yerba Buena Gardens Festival. This admission-free event occurs annually from May through October to provide six months of fabulous outdoor entertainment and a truly diverse performing arts experience. Get ready to dance with the Salsa Dance Party every Thursday at 6:00 p.m., featuring the music of Bululú, Pellejo Seco, and the Cabanijazz Project. You can even catch a concert in the middle of your workday most Thursdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m., with such musical acts as Kitty Pak, Dalia and the Big Violin, The New World String Project, Faun Fables, and the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco.

Circus Bella will entertain with a new one-ring show in June, and commissioned projects will include “Blackball: The Negro League and the Blues,” by composer Marcus Shelby in September and “ChoreoFest,” a dance festival, also in June. Don’t miss the 21st Native Contemporary Arts Festival on June 17, along with August events that include “AfroSolo,” a Duke Ellington tribute and “Brazil in the Gardens,” featuring Pragandaia and Margareth Menezes.
