A Guide To The Best Of San Francisco

Binge on Ballet in 2017

January 09, 2017

With a combination of refined and edgy repertory selections, the San Francisco Ballet remains on the cutting edge of 21st-century dance, and the 2017 season promises to continue the tradition with the theme “Ever Magical.” Swan Lake, Cinderella, and The Nutcracker will be performed as usual, but four world premier ballets are also on the schedule, including the North American premier of Frankenstein.

This season begins with the Opening Night Gala on January 19 at the San Francisco City Hall and War Memorial Opera House. The event will bring audiences a taste of the magical season to come, and showcase the outstanding abilities of the company’s dancers and musicians.

The Black Tie Gala begins at 5:00 p.m., with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and a Prosecco Promenade. The Gala Performance begins at 8:00 p.m., and is followed by the After Party at 10:00 p.m. For tickets, call (415) 865 2000 or email If you are unable to attend, but wish to make a donation, or to see the complete repertory season, visit
